Peek Into a Dancers Bag: Essentials

Makeup is the most obvious tool a stripper has in her bag, but this is just BARELY the tip of the ice berg. You'd be surprised to find that the majority of strippers could get tossed out a small plane and land on a deserted island with her dancer bag and survive for a healthy amount of time. Eat your heart out, Tom Hanks! You're "Cast Away" adventure just got a little more seductive. Really though, our bags contain all the important things needed to thrive as a successful dancer.

I take a small luggage with wheels to work with me. Some clubs have lockers, however the club I work at does not. If this is the case for you, be sure to keep your belongings within view of the nearest security cameras, and keep your money on you at all times. In my bag I carry a wide range of outfits separated in small plastic ziplock bags. I have an outfit to suit every mood or personality I have for the night. Some nights I want to be a tropical beauty and wear only a matching g-string and top set with a flower in my hair. Some nights I want to be a naughty librarian complete with glasses and a tight short skirt. It really depends on your mood...and what the club allows.

In my bag I also have a small box of inexpensive, yet really cute and flattering jewelry. Ladies please keep your good stuff at home. If it costs more than you'd like to lose or has any type of sentimental value, do not bring it to the club.

Another super important item is an extra pair of shoes. You never know when your current pair is gonna croak. Or maybe you wear clear shoes, but a black pair goes better with your outfit of the night.

I have a separate area for hair products and styling tools. I make sure to always bring my volumizing hairspray. CHI silk infusion, or Biosilk products are great for sheen and an overall healthy look. They smell amazing, too!

I make sure to bring perfume or body spray, this can be something cheap like Victoria's secret or bath and body works fragrances. REMEMBER, save your good stuff for personal use. Don' forget to bring extra razors, feminine deodorant, underarm deodorant, wipes, sally hansen airbrush legs (for an even skin tone), and body wash, shampoo & conditioner (if your club has showers).

A light snack is a good idea especially if your house mom spoils you and feeds you nothing but delicious and tempting junk!

And this is all for one night of work! Of all these items, a few are musts and a few are luxuries. Don't worry if you don't have all these items when you go in to audition, or even for your first week of work. Over time, you'll accumulate all the tools needed to be a prepared and top-of-the-line stripper. Your most important assets truly are your personality, and smile. :) Good Luck
